Movies Suck

Well it's that time of year again, when the once-great, once-groundbreaking Sundance Film Festival (which has now devolved into a leftist political shitfest) is held in Utah. And as bad as Hollywood has become with the cookie-cutter assembly line tripe they crank out, it didn't take long for Sundance to catch up. It has now become a parody of itself.

If there were ever any doubt that leftists dominate the movie industry (especially the indy scene) then all you need to do is look at some of the shit being debuted at Sundance this year:

- A movie starring 12-year old Dakota Fanning (the most overrated child star since Arnold asked Willis what he was talkin' 'bout) being raped.

- A movie about bestiality. I wonder if it takes place in Sweden or Washington State (where bestiality and voting for Communists are mandatory).

- A movie about the horrors of Abu Ghraib, described as a combination of The Shawshank Redemption and The Shining. Yeah, you just gotta love the leftists and their selective moral outrage. Are there any movies about the thousands of Iraqis being killed every year by fellow Muslims? Any movies which accurately portray the sheer creepiness and depravity of Mohammed and his ilk honor-killing women, decapitating non-believers, and raping young boys? Yeah, right.....

True, there were a handful of genuinely good (Hollywood) movies that came out over the past 12 months. Similarly-themed movies such as The Illusionist and The Prestige (both were good, but The Prestige was far better) showcased outstanding acting as well as good character development. Flags of Our Fathers and Flight 93 were both extremely good. Borat, as retarded and revolting as it was in most places, had some admittedly laugh-out-loud funny scenes. The Departed was one of the best mafia crime dramas since Goodfellas, and even Rocky Balboa was surprisingly well done. Admittedly, there was ONE good movie to come out of Sundance last year: Little Miss Sunshine. Did I say good? I meant to say OUTSTANDING. You can gauge a person's intelligence by asking them if they liked Little Miss Sunshine. Either they loved it (smart), hated it (stupid) or have no idea what you're talking about since they only see movies starring Jessica Simpson or Will Farrell (fucking retarded).

The bad news is: the good movies were overshadowed by such leftist drivel as Babel. For the record, I didn't see Babel, but since I'm not a brain-dead lemming, I don't go to movies featuring Brangelina, Tomkat, or any other morphed celebrity couples du jour that the media tells me to care about. And as much as leftists love pedophilia and bestiality, there is one thing that is almost universally shared by left-leaning "artists:" the love of underage Japanese girls in school uniforms being sexualized. Apparently, one of the main characters in Babel is a deaf teenage Japanese girl who shows her twat to anyone within viewing range. Be sure to take an ample supply of Kleenex, leftists. Don't worry about getting caught, since the only other patrons in the theater are just as perverted and socially retarded as you are.

Here's a can't-miss idea for next year: How about a movie featuring an underage Japanese horse who wears a school uniform? You can show up-the skirt shots of its panties while it's waiting in the lunch line. It could be called Fukuoka Foal, and it would be a shoe-in for Cannes next year. You heard it here first.

By far the most disappointing movie of the year (and the only one I actually walked out of) was Children of Men. Not only was it a not-so-thinly-veiled Marxist-Islamist propaganda snuff film, it sucked ass. First of all, it featured every leftist cliché in the book (The "Patriot Act" being used to muzzle all dissent, all immigrants in the U.K. being put in internment camps, terrorism committed by the government, Muslims as victims, and a Big Brother state). As a rule, most directors and actors make at least some attempt at hiding their left-wing bias. Children of Men doesn't even bother. It's obvious to even the most casual observer that very little effort went in to creating this crap-can film.

And if everybody does indeed have his own half-assed, less talented double (like Johnny Depp has Skeet Ulrich) then I would be pretty pissed if I were Mel Gibson. The overrated star of Children of Men (Clive Owen) might as well have given his lines in an Aussie accent, since his performance (and much of the movie) was a cheap ripoff of Gibson's performance in the Mad Max series. I don't care how respected and revered Owen is: this movie sucked and so did he. Even Michael Caine (one of the world's greatest actors who did an incredible job in The Prestige) was feckless and lame as a 70-year-old hippie. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I can't tell you how it ends, because like I said I walked out after it REALLY started to get boring.

In contrast, I rented Logan's Run on DVD to watch with my kids this weekend. And although the costumes were cheesy at best, I found the storyline and plot details to be a much better example of a future world than Children of Men could ever hope to be. First of all, unlike most futuristic sci-fi movies, the guy who wrote Logan's Run was smart enough to at least set the story well into the future (2274) as opposed to all the dipshits in the late 60's and early 70's who set their "future" movies in 1988 or 1993.

And as much of a leftist wet dream Children of Men was, Logan's Run is a much more prolific view of an ideal leftist world. In the movie, the people of 2274 are living in domes due to some unknown "ecological disaster" in the outside world, which turns out not to be true (Al Gore, anyone?). Secondly, the dome dwellers live in a youth-obsessed culture in which people have to die when they turn 30. As everybody knows, people become more intelligent as they grow older (with the notable exception of Jimmy Carter). Leftists would LOVE to live in a world in which they are surrounded by other ignorant young hedonistic lemmings who do nothing but pursue pleasure all day (as they did in Logan's Run). That's why they're always clamoring for the "youth" vote and wasting their time "getting the message out" to voters who watch MTV. Let me state for the record that nobody who watches MTV votes. And thank Christ for that.

It's sad that Sundance now sucks just as bad as mainstream Hollywood. It's sad that as a sci-fi fan, I have to go back to 1976 to find an intelligent, well-written film about the future. Unfortunately, that's what we've come to. Perhaps I should give Indian movies a chance.... Nah.....

Do the cinema world a favour... kill some leftists
