Another Death Drill
You might remember my first article about the complete fucking uselessness of the dickheads in charge of our fire and emergency evacuation procedures at my office. And it is good to see that nothing has changed in over a year.
Well there I am sitting at my desk this morning when the "pack up and prepare to evacuate" signal goes off. So we pack up and assemble near the emergence exit where we wait for the evacuation signal or the "all clear" announcement. And wait. And wait. Nothing.
After about 10 minutes of waiting we now hear sirens and look out the window to see fire trucks pulling up out the front of the office. Meanwhile we are still waiting. And waiting. And then we wait some more.
After about another 10 minutes of waiting the house warden finally comes on the PA and says "We have received an alarm and are checking it out. Please stand by"
After about a further 20 minutes I yell out in frustration "Come on dipshits. Make the call. Are we leaving or can we go back to our desks and get back to work?"
And then, after another 10 minutes we get told it was a false alarm.
Do the sums on that. It took 50 minutes for those fucking useless wankers to work out what was happening. Almost an hour after the alarm first went, we get the all clear. That is almost an hour that a fire could have been burning, or a bomb could have been ticking down, or anything. One fucking hour.
What would have happened if it took them an hour and then found out it wasn't a false alarm? What if it really had been a fire and in the hour that our wardens were standing around taking turns sticking their fists up each others asses it had burned its way across a floor and was now cutting off our evac route?
I swear that if anything ever does actually happen, an explosion does rock the building or I do happen to see smoke coming from somewhere within, I am just gonna go on my own and to hell with the incompetence of those fucking cocksuckers supposedly in charge of ensuring our safety. And anyone else who wants to make it out of there alive will come with me.
Dipshits.
